Bounty Hunter

©2005 Elmo Taylor Recordings

Written By: David Rhodes

The cowboy thinks that maybe he has got away
With all the plans that he has made
But I’m right behind him, less than a day
This time tomorrow I’ll be getting paid

I am a bounty hunter and I do it well
Chase down the cowboys through the swinging doors
To get my money I’d ride through hell
Dead or alive the choice is yours
The choice is yours

I wanted adventure when I was young
Couldn’t do what my daddy did
So I made my living using this gun
Grew to a man straight from a kid

But the road that lays ahead is getting dim
The road behind is long
And I know one day I will meet him
And he will have the quicker draw
The quicker draw

And death is strapped down to my sides
And death is looking into my eyes
I ride with death and we both wear black
I’m right behind you if you’re looking back
Don’t look back

And I know that tomorrow out in the street
Under the noonday sun
This cowboy won’t want to come with me
And there will be no place to run

As I ride out of town I’ll feel the eyes
And hear the widows cry
And they’ll all wonder who’s next to die
And sometimes so do I
So do I

And death is strapped down to my sides
And death is looking into my eyes
I ride with death and we both wear black
I’m right behind you if you’re looking back
Don’t look back
